Winning
at Trial
The
client came to the firm charged with assaulting someone at a bar. Efforts
to resolve the matter through negotiation at the preliminary hearing were
fruitless - the Commonwealth was determined to obtain a conviction against
the client.
The Commonwealth
also demanded $14,000 from the client for medical bills of the so-called
victim in this case.
When the
case came to trial, we were able to produce evidence for the jury, that
the "victim" had been molesting women in the bar, and that he
had swung first at the client. The jury agreed with us that the client
had acted in self-defense, and returned a verdict of NOT GUILTY.
The client
was thrilled.
